Pomadze, Ghana - President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to reforming and strengthening the country’s justice system.

Speaking passionately at the 2024 Annual Jalsa (Convention) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Pomadze, Central Region, the President outlined his vision for an independent, equitable, and capable judiciary to address the systemic inequalities confronting the country today.

“The new NDC administration is resolutely committed to strengthening our justice system to ensure judicial independence and to address the systemic inequalities that currently exist,” he declared.

President Mahama stressed that a robust justice system is essential for fostering trust and confidence in governance. He assured the citizens that his administration would prioritise reforms that protect the rights of all Ghanaians.

“I can assure you that this administration will work tirelessly to ensure that every Ghanaian, regardless of your status or background, is treated with dignity and afforded equal protection under the law,” he emphasised.

The President further noted that justice must not be a privilege for a few but a fundamental right accessible to all. He described judicial independence as the cornerstone of democracy and emphasised that a strong, impartial justice system is vital for national unity and development.

The 2024 Annual Jalsa, themed “Justice and Peace: The Essential Ingredients for National Development,” provided a platform for discussing how justice and peace can be harnessed to build a prosperous nation.

The three-day event was chaired by the Ameer and Missionary in Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Alhaj Maulana Noor Mohammed Bin Salih, who echoed the importance of justice in ensuring sustainable progress.

President Mahama praised the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for their commitment to promoting justice and peace. He acknowledged their role in fostering unity and inclusivity and emphasised the need for collaboration between government and religious organisations to achieve national goals.

He called on all Ghanaians to support these efforts, emphasising that justice and peace are not just ideals but essential building blocks for a brighter, stronger Ghana.
