John Mahama says thank you to Assin North.

The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has expressed his gratitude to the people of Assin North for their support in the re-election of James Gyakye Quayson to parliament.

Quayson won Tuesday’s by-election with 17,166 votes, representing 57.56% of the total votes.

Mr Mahama, a key anchor of the Quayson re-election campaign, said, “Your vote for Justice and Development is truly inspiring.”

Quayson's 2020 election was annulled by a Supreme Court ruling, which claimed he held Canadian citizenship at the time of the election. Both Quayson and the NDC have contested that claim.

Despite the ruling New Patriotic Party's efforts to buy votes with monetary incentives and development projects, the NDC and Quayson still won the seat.

Mahama called for continued collaboration to build a better Ghana.

Below is the thank you message from Mr Mahama:
“A big thank you, Assin North, for supporting James Gyakye Quayson and rejecting the non-performing NPP in today’s by-election. Your vote for Justice and Development is truly inspiring. Let's keep working together to build the Ghana we all dream of. #ThankYou #AssinNorth #JusticeAndDevelopment"
